Creighton center Justin Patton is declaring for the NBA draft and will sign with an agent. In doing so, the 2017 Big East Freshman of the Year will give up his final three seasons of eligibility with the Bluejays.
An Omaha native, Patton said he made the decision after “much deliberation” with his family and the CU coaching staff.
He averaged 12.9 points and 6.2 rebounds a game for the Jays last season. The 7-footer had 72 dunks to boost his field goal percentage to 67.6 percent, which led the conference and ranked second in the nation.
Patton has been projected as a top-20 NBA draft pick in several media organizations’ recent mock drafts.
