Did a YouTube video spill the beans on the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band 50th anniversary deluxe reissues?
On Tuesday a video purporting to be a promo for 50th anniversary reissues of The Beatles‘ classic 1967 album was posted to YouTube, though not to any kind of official Beatles account.
The video touts a new stereo mix of the album by Giles Martin, son of original producer George Martin.
According to the video, a deluxe two-CD edition will include an entire disk of previously unreleased session takes, while, a super deluxe six-CD set will contain two full CDs of outtakes, new stereo mixes of the non-LP single tracks “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “Penny Lane” and six additional tracks including a “lost” version of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.”
The super deluxe set also will included a DVD and blu-ray of the documentary The Making of Sgt. Pepper as well as surround-sound and high-resolution stereo mixes of the album; a 144- page book including facsimile handwritten lyrics and recording notes; and two posters. There will be a two-LP vinyl addition as well, all coming May 26.
We’ll have to wait and see if the video’s details are legit.
