NASS releases Nebraska Crop Progress and Condition Report

LINCOLN — USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service released the Nebraska Crop Progress and Condition Report on Monday. Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 6% very short, 19% short, 67% adequate, and 8% surplus. Subsoil moisture received similar ratings: 9% very short, 25% short, 64% adequate, and 2% surplus.

Winter wheat condition in Nebraska were rated 2% very poor, 9% poor, 42% fair, 42% good, and 5% excellent.

In the Livestock, Pasture and Range Report, cattle and calf conditions were rated 0% very poor, 0% poor, 17% fair, 71% good, and 12% excellent. Calving progress was 62% complete compared to 55% last year. Cattle and calf death loss was rated 1% heavy, 74% average, and 25% light.
