Scotus, Howells-Dodge Make Girls Basketball State Tourney

The Scotus girls’ basketball team will be making its first appearance in the state tournament since 2012.

The Shamrocks are seeded eighth in C1 and will play number-one seed Lincoln Christian in Thursday’s quarterfinals.  Tipoff at the Devaney Center is at 2 p.m. and the game will be on KLIR.

Scotus earned the trip to Lincoln with a 51-41 win over Fort Calhoun in Saturday’s C1-3 district final.

Howells-Dodge is the 3-seed in C2.  The Jaguars will meet sixth-seeded Cambridge at 7 p.m. Thursday at Lincoln North Star.

Howells-Dodge earned its third straight trip to state by beating Twin River 50-42 in the C2-4 district final Saturday night, improving to 22-3.  The Titans’ season ended at 18-7.

The Humphrey St. Francis girls fell to Falls City Sacred Heart 44-23 in the D2-1 district final Saturday.  The Flyers finished 14-12.
