Columbus High’s football team is back in the AP prep football rankings. Following their district-title clinching win over Blair, the Discoverers are the ninth-ranked Class B team in the rankings out Tuesday.
Columbus is 7-2 and will host Beatrice Friday night in a first-round playoff game at Pawnee Park’s Memorial Stadium.
In C-1, Aquinas moves up a spot to number 1. The Monarchs will host sixth-ranked Norfolk Catholic Friday night. Lakeview and Scotus are unranked, but the Vikings visit third-ranked O’Neill and the Shamrocks play at number 5 Kearney Catholic in Friday’s first round.
Palmer stays at number 5 in D-1 and meets Amherst Thursday. In D-2, Osceola rises two spots to number 2 and will play Sterling, while Humphrey St. Francis is up one spot to number 4 and will take on Emerson-Hubbard in Thursday’s first-round.
