Columbus High finished as the runner-up in the softball district tournament at LaVista. The Discoverers won two of their first three games to reach Saturday’s championship.
In the title game, CHS was edged by top-seeded Papillion-LaVista 6-4. The Discoverers wind up the season with a 14-21 record.
Lakeview lost in the Vikings’ district semifinal to the tourney’s eventual champion Wayne. The Vikings went 3-2 in the tourney to finish at 7-22.
Central City and Twin River both qualified for this week’s Class C state tournament. In their district tourney, the Bison battled through the loser’s bracket and defeated the Titans twice to win the title.
Twin River is seeded fourth in the state tourney and plays GACC, while number-6 seed Central City faces Raymond Central. Both games are set for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Hastings.
