Northeast Nebraska Ag Banquet tickets go on sale May 2

MADISON — Tickets will go on sale Monday, May 2, for the second annual Northeast Nebraska Ag Banquet planned to be held at the Madison County Fairgrounds in Madison on Thursday, June 23.

The event, which begins at 5:30 p.m., will include a ribeye steak meal, musical entertainment by the Outback Band and award presentations. The theme is “Uniting the Agricultural & Business Communities.”

The co-hosts are the Norfolk and Madison Area Chambers of Commerce. Tickets can be purchased from either office.

“One of the goals of the Ag Banquet is to promote today & tomorrow’s agriculture & its importance to the northeast Nebraska economy.  A few ways we do this is through awarding youth scholarships, recognizing ag business leaders who help support our communities, and more importantly, recognizing and honoring our hard-working farmers & farm families that make up the backbone of the state of Nebraska,” said Chanda Goedken, chairwoman of the Agri-Business Council of the Norfolk Chamber.

“Another major goal is to raise money & awareness for the event. All proceeds will be used to grow and expand not only the event itself, but also growing the scholarships given out to our future ag leaders.  Our goal is to continue to increase the amount of scholarship dollars as well as the quantity of scholarships given out,” she said.

The Ag Appreciation event targets Madison, Antelope, Wayne, Pierce, Stanton and Boone counties, as well as northern Platte County. The event is open to the public.

Four $750 Northeast Nebraska Ag Community (post-secondary) scholarships will be awarded this year. Scholarship details have been sent to high school guidance counselors in the seven counties.
