Nebraska forward Shavon Shields was named Sunday to the Big Ten’s all-tournament team. Shields became the first Husker to earn a spot on the team in NU’s first five seasons in the conference.
He averaged 19.7 points and 8.3 rebounds in three tourney games. The Huskers knocked off Rutgers and Wisconsin, before falling to Maryland in Friday night’s quarterfinals.
Coach Tim Miles said Saturday night that Nebraska would not pursue opportunities to play in a postseason tourney. He said the team had a long season that started in July with practices for a trip to Spain. Nebraska finished 16-18.
