Shepard Earns Freshman of Year, First-Team Honors

Nebraska forward Jessica Shepard is not only the Big Ten Freshman of the Year.  She’s also the first freshman in school history to win first-team all-conference honors.

The Fremont native is NU’s first freshman of the year winner since Meggan Yedsena was named the Big Eight’s top newcomer in 1991.  Shepard led the Huskers in both scoring and rebounding with 19.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.

Sophomore guard Natalie Romeo earned second-team honors. Romeo averaged 15.6 points a game and smashed the Nebraska single-season three-point record with 93 on the year.

Also named to the second team was Shelby-Rising City’s Chatrice White, now a sophomore at Illinois.
