Former Nebraska standout and NFL player John Parrella is returning to Lincoln to coach the Huskers’ defensive line.
Parrella comes to Nebraska after two seasons as the defensive line coach at Northern Michigan University. Parrella grew up in Grand Island and played for Tom Osborne from 1988-92. He was a two-time All-Big Eight selection in 1991 and ’92.
Parrella played 12 years in the NFL and played in three Super Bowls, one each with the Bills, Chargers and Raiders.
Head coach Mike Riley also announced that former NFL general manager Billy Devaney is joining the staff as executive director of player personnel and special assistant to the head coach.
