Kearney, NE ~~ Central Community College in Kearney is planning to expand. After outgrowing their space on Second Avenue, CCC has purchased 32 acres of land at 11th Street and 30th Avenue, right across from the new Kearney High School.
Executive Director of the Central Community College Foundation, Dean Moors says they plan on using some of the new space for education programs in the Ag industry. Moors says the major addition will be the skilled and technical science division, which will include mechatronics. There will be a construction area, and a soils testing lab. CCC also plans on increasing their information technology and distance learning, so students who are in Kearney can learn from teachers at CCC’s other facilities.
While a construction timeline has the new campus opening in fall of 2018, school officials say if they can quickly raise enough money that timeline may be moved up to fall of 2017.
