Richie Furay to Release New Solo Album, “Hand in Hand,” Next Month

M_RichieFurayHandinHand630_021015Founding Buffalo Springfield and Poco singer/guitarist Richie Furay will release his first new studio album in eight years next month.  Hand in Hand will hit stores on March 31, and will feature nine new tunes, as well as a couple of updated versions of songs by his old groups — Buffalo Springfield’s “Kind Woman” and Poco’s “A Good Feelin’ to Know.”

“Just when you think ‘it was a nice run,’ you realize it’s not over…especially when one day you wake up and songs are flooding your heart and mind that you know you just have to document and preserve,” says Furay about the new album.  “Hand in Hand was that confirmation for me — I’ve learned to say ‘never say never.’  Who knows where this collection will land, but I’m sure glad I get to share these songs with a world that knows music really is the universal language.”

According to Furay’s manager David Spero, Richie began writing the songs on Hand in Hand for a possible new Buffalo Springfield album that never came to fruition after the plug was pulled on the band’s short-lived 2011 reunion.  Spero says he considers Furay’s new material “the best group of songs he had ever put together.”

Hand in Hand‘s title track was written as a follow-up to the Springfield’s “Kind Woman,” which was inspired by Richie’s wife of 48 years, Nancy.  The album’s cover features a wedding photo of the couple.  In addition, one of the record’s bonus tracks is an alternate version of the new song “Love at First Sight” that features vocals by Furay’s daughter, Jesse Furay Lynch, who also is a member of his solo band.

In advance of the release of Hand in Hand, Furay will launch a U.S. tour that’s scheduled to run from a February 25 concert in Los Angeles through a March 22 gig in Pawling, New York.
