Semi Crash Sends One to Hospital

A Wednesday afternoon crash sends one to the hospital.  The Polk County Sheriff’s Department along with the Shelby Fire Department were called to a semi accident at highway 81/92.
Sheriff Dwaine Ladwig stated that a west bound 2002 Kenworth owned by JP Trucking of Columbus and driven by Jerod Haschke lost a set of tandem wheels on the tractor.  The wheels proceeded east bound hitting the driver’s frond side of a 2005 Peterbelt, driven by Six Pack of Goodwin, South DakotaThe impact of the wheels caused the steering to break sending the semi into the north ditch and rolling on its side. A load of bulk salt spilled into the ditch.
Pack was taken to Annie Jeffrey Memorial in Osceola and kept for observation.  His semi was a total lost.  The accident remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s office.
